Kiwiskunk
Kiwiseeds
Indica 75 / Sativa 25
Origins: NZ Skunk x NYC Diesel
Flowering: 50-60 days
Harvest: early September
In the late 1980s the skunk invasion landed on New Zealand’s shores. This short-flowering, heavy-yielding variety added a whole new dimension to growing in New Zealand, which at that stage was limited to outdoor guerilla groves of big sativas. Smaller indica-dominant plants meant less chance of detection by air; earlier flowering meant valuable crops were in before drug enforcement agencies spotted them, and the novelty of the skunk stone meant prices for the herb were higher than for the traditional sativas. hence many haze / sativa growers around that time gave up their long-flowering types of indica, stabilizing unique strains of New Zealand (“kiwi”) skunk. Kiwiskunk is a cross of one of these skunks with a NYC Diesel, adding something extra when it comes to taste.
All the classic skunk qualities are here: short and stocky plants, high calyx-to-leaf ratio, full fat buds, and excellent yields. The strain also boasts superior mold resistance, making her an attractive choice for both new and veteran growers, indoors or out.
Perfect for sea of green cultivation styles, Kiwiskunk will be ready to harvest with 8.5 weeks of flowering. Growers can expect yields of around 400-500 grams per square meter when grown SOG style, and a little more if she’s given and extra week or two of vegetative growth. This strain’s exceptional consistency makes Kiwiskunk a good choice for small growers who want to crop her as soon as possible, rather than waiting to grow out and select the best females.
Kiwiskunk’s package of qualities include the distinct skunk smell! Without some form of smell suppression you’ll run the risk of the neighbors knowing your business. Growers in the Netherlands use carbon filters for this plant – taking the same precautions as they would if growing NYC Diesel, which has a reputation for getting growers into trouble with the smell she emits.
Kiwiskunk has a great skunky taste with a touch of citrus. the smoke is sweet and bright – a light inhale. Don’t be fooled. This skunk packs a punch! A bowl of Kiwiskunk will drop you into a deep stone with giggles inside it, best enjoyed from a sofa in front of a big screen movie.
