There is a lot of potlore that surrounds Chem #4. Some say it was the fourth and most glorious pheno from a set of bagseed in a $500 ounce that Chemdog bought at a Grateful Dead concert back in the day. Whether or not it’s true, I can’t say. However, I can say that this Green Haven version is the product of a 1991 ChemDawg clone and an OG Kush plant from the San Fernando Valley.
This strain has a good dose of indica influence and is thus pretty enjoyable to grow. You’ll notice some wonderful internode formations and deep green leaves that will stay that way if you give her lots of light. Chem #4 is happy to live in a range of grow set ups, but you will get the most full natural flavor and high from an organic grow with minimal nutrients. near the end of the flowering period this strain might need some additional assistance holding herself up, so it can be a good idea to plant stakes in the vegetative period so they’re all ready to go when you need them.
The Chem #4 smoke is pretty serious, but has the gorgeous trait of not building much of a tolerance. It medicates both head and body, with anxiousness being dissolved away just as much as any physical pain. This makes it a great strain for medical cannabis users, especially those with depression and illnesses like Crohn’s disease and arthritis.
